Happy New Year(s)
HAPPY NEW YEAR(S)
HNY20
HNY20 is a personal work that celebrates the year 2020 throughout the animation, in 20 seconds.
CONCEPTION
The project is mainly based on typographic work, with saturated colors and geometric shapes. The subject of movement is at the heart of the message conveyed, animation has a rapid pace in line with the soundtrack.
The sequence is made of three parts, each attempting to visually represent the word displayed before formulating the message as a whole, at the very end.
HNY18
HNY18 is a personal project essentially based on motion design work. To celebrate 2018’s arrival, the goal was to communicate the following message "Go beyond boundaries". The issue was to shape this formula into a compelling way.
CONCEPTION
To arouse the viewer’s interest, I decided to create a short video where music would play a major role. Thus, the original music track had to be re-edited to better fit the video’s cut and energy.
I wanted motion design to best translate the final purpose. I was inspired by the opening titles created for Semi-Permanent’s design conference (Sydney - 2014), and the idea of particles spreading out of boundaries grew up in my mind.
Finally, despite the software’s technical constraints, the biggest barrier laid in successfully merging 2D and 3D within a single composition. The main color used, wants to be a reference to manufacturer Pantone’s® attribution of Ultra Violet as the color of the year 2018.

HNY16
HNY16 focuses on minimal typographic work and live-action footage. Again, for this personal project, the goal was to celebrate the arrival of 2016 with a special message.
CONCEPTION
To convey it, each shot is built around a text, with the same properties. Only motion changes from shot to shot, illustrating the word in question, unveiling the entire message with the ultimate shot. Eventually, the background’s speed ramps during transitions help the built-in rhythm of the video and increase music’s energy.
